Westfield Memorial Hospital

A stack of new, prewritten letters addressed to both the Commissioner of Health and the Governor are on the table in Bailey Hall. You are asked to place your signature and address on a set and return them to the hospital or turn them in to the church office and someone will return them to the hospital. The hospital is taking responsibility for all postage.

The Rites

Rite I is traditionally a more penitential Rite. If you look at the instructions on page 334 of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), just after the Sanctus and just before the Eucharistic Prayer, you will see it says "The people kneel or stand". Kneeling is preferred for this Rite.

However, as Rite II is a more praiseful Rite, the instructions change at the beginning of the Eucharistic Prayer (BCP page 362) to "The people stand or kneel". Standing during this Eucharistic prayer is preferred.

That said, neither stance is incorrect for either Rite. So, if you have always knelt during the Eucharistic Prayer, and would be uncomfortable standing, please continue kneeling. If you are willing to change, during Rite II, please stand for this prayer. This is the traditional stance for praise.

Individual E-Mail accounts available through the Church's website

Do you or someone you know who is a member of St. Peter's need access to e-mail and is not able to afford it? There is help available. E-Mail accounts are available at no charge to parish members through our parish website. If you or someone you know is interested send me an e-mail or call me at 753-6926 (Scott). I will be glad to set up the e-mail on your computer or teach you how to use the computer at the library to get your e-mail. Your account would be something like anameyouchoose@stpeterswestfield.org. This would be a personal e-mail account that belongs only to you. No one at the Church would be able to access or see your e-mail. This benefit is available through the plan we have with the company that hosts the Church's website. They provide unlimited e-mail accounts to us.
Thank you,
Scott Brasted
